Alexandrion Trophies are, in fact, a natural continuation of the efforts of Alexandrion Foundation to support Romanian sports. For years, Alexandrion Foundation supported not only sportive teams, but also the Romanian Sportive Olympic Committee, at three Olympics: Athens, London and Beijing. Currently, Alexandrion Foundation supports two handball teams (U Alexandrion Cluj și CSA Steaua Alexandrion) and six football teams (Universitatea Craiova, CSM Politehnica Iaşi, ASU Politehnica Timișoara, Petrolul Ploieşti, Universitatea Cluj  și Metaloglobus București). The Foundation also supports other sports such as golf, rugby, cycling, boxing, polo, tennis.
